Today I am sharing our guest bath remodel with you! This has to be one of my favorite rooms in our home {you may or may not hear me say that about all of our rooms haha} because the before and after is shocking {in my opinion}! Let’s take a look at a few of the before photos so you can see what we had to work with and then I’ll share the remodel process with you.
The Before
Don’t you just love the floral carpet for a bathroom?!
The Remodel Process
This was the first room that we finished in our home. We had to have a bedroom and bathroom complete in order to move in – which was pretty soon after we closed – so this was a quick bathroom remodel! We completely gutted the entire bathroom and removed part of a wall {see the first before picture} to make it more open. Right before we installed the marble floor, Colby discovered that all of the plumbing was rusted out and needed to be replaced with PVC. If he had not discovered this issue when he did, we would have had to rip up the marble flooring which would have cost us time and money!
Demo day included:
– Removing half wall/cabinets, carpet & wall paper
– Demoing drywall
– Removing the popcorn ceiling
– Demoing vanity, shower/tub & toilet
– Removing existing electrical {old sconces & heat lamp}
– Removing old plumbing under the bathroom floors {& rest of house}
Installs included:
– Installing new drywall
– Texturing the walls & ceiling
– Installing tub, subway tile & shower/tub fixtures
– Adding PVC plumbing
– Installing marble tile floor
– Installing new toilet
– Installing new vanity, sink, countertop, faucet & vanity pulls
– Installing new mirror
– Adding new lighting {sconces & cans}, ventilation fan & bathroom hardware
The After
We chose a gray grout color for the subway tile & marble tile floor.
Splurge vs. Save
There were a few items that were on my “must have” list which included gold accents and marble tile flooring. I splurged on the sconces because I loved the look of them and they matched the gold in the mirror perfectly! I also splurged on the faucet because of it’s shape and it was the only gold faucet I could find {besides the Kohler faucet} that matched the other gold accents well. I found the mirror {similar} at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and it has to be one of my favorite accents in the room! The vanity was more of a budget friendly item and I was able to change out the pulls to match the color of the faucet and bathroom hardware.
