When we purchased our home we were given nine months to finish before we needed to finalize the loan. In our minds we figured “oh we have plenty of time!” We started with the renovations at the end of March of last year and thought we’d be wrapping up by October. Boy were we wrong! By the end of the nine months we were just barely finished. We almost had to extend the nine months but luckily we finished just in time. Since we pretty much did the entire remodel ourselves {many thanks to our family and friends who pitched in to help} the weekends were usually the only time we were able to work on it.
With all of that being said, there were a few rooms we didn’t get to fully finish or furnish {like our landscaping and patio/porch details}. One of these rooms was the laundry room. I was obsessed with having some sort of elaborate tile but given our deadline and how much extra work laying tile is we decided to just lay our laminate flooring in there and change it up later on down the road. Well, that time has come! I am SO excited to give our laundry room a little face lift this summer and so I decided to make a design plan to narrow down my picks and vision for the space! Most of our home has custom and unique touches but I just felt like our laundry room was sort of “blah”. I am ready to add something unique to the space. Here is the design plan…

We currently have stainless steel accents throughout the laundry room but I plan to switch it over to brass {similar to what’s in our guest bath}. As you can see, I am having the hardest time narrowing my floor tile picks down to just 1 or 2 {indecisive much?!} because I love them all! We have a large window {almost floor to ceiling} in the space and I plan to use Grace’s {from Nesting with Grace} magic light trick and add the brass sconce above the window. With this you are able to make a sconce have light without having to do any electrical wiring {find Grace’s magic light trick post here}! Genius! I also plan on changing out our current center light for the brass globe chandelier. We actually already purchased this light – I originally bought it for our master bedroom but decided to go a different direction. By the time I went to return the light it was too late {oops}! But it all worked out since it will be perfect in the laundry room. As for the back splash, depending on the type of flooring we choose will determine which style of backsplash we go with. I love love herringbone but I don’t want it to be too busy with the flooring choice. We will also be adding a sink to our counter top. We designed our cabinets keeping in mind that we will eventually add a sink and I’m so glad we did that! It makes adding a sink in pretty easy.

Wow how well decorated! It is a luxury to have a whole room just for laundry.
