About a year ago my husband, Colby, and I decided to take on a fixer upper. We weren’t looking and it wasn’t at all planned. It just sort of fell into our lap and happened to be right next door to one of our couple friends. We were at lunch with the same friends and they showed us a listing that was right next to their house. I wasn’t even remotely considering it since the pictures made it look horrific. Colby and I ended up driving over to take a look at the outside. Once there, I fell in love. We were only able to walk around the exterior and look inside some of the windows but the bones were good and it had unique character.
Fast forward to the next week and I was there with our realtor to take a tour. We eventually put in an offer and after a few negotiations it was ours. We immediately put our house up for sale by owner. We didn’t think it’d be a super quick sell but we were ok with that because it would give us time to start on the remodel while still living in our house. Lucky for us our house sold within 2 weeks! We were ecstatic but also had to be out within a month which meant us living in a construction zone for a while (more on that later ;). We were thankful, though, because at least we wouldn’t be making double house payments!
This blog post is already getting wayy too long and I’m sure I’m boring you! So during the next several posts I will break it down and share with you all each room that we “fixed” up. You’ll get to see the before and after pictures as well as stories to go along with each room – the good, the bad and the ugly ;).
I hope you will enjoy taking a look back with me on our fixer upper journey! It was a long 9 months but was so worth it in the end.
